Born on January 28, 1973, Cox had a professional boxing record of 18 wins (17 by knockout), 6 losses, and 0 draws. He was known for his powerful punching ability and aggressive fighting style. Cox fought in notable bouts against fighters such as Larry Donald, Chris Byrd, and Hasim Rahman. After retiring from boxing, he went on to pursue a career in mixed martial arts. Cox's career was plagued by legal troubles and he was sentenced to prison for armed robbery in 2010.
